Some Writing

Nearing the end of my first project, finally coming together.
I'm not sure I really liked it that much, kind of lost interest.
It was quite long.

Anyway, here's some writing I've done for it.
(First draft)

It feels like all of a sudden, everything I know,

Respect and love and everything I take for granted,

Just took a major nose dive down priority lane.

Life here, is a non-stop white knuckle ferocity,

So much faster, busier and bigger than at home.

Sometimes it's great, the laughs ring out,

And the smiles break and you think,

"This is the time of my life, it's never been so good!"

But it seems good things come with a shaded side,

And at times it really gets to ya.

The lack of stability can put a real

Downer on your mood and when that happens,

and you're up to your neck in metropolis,

It's hard to snap out of it.

Enclosed within your own thoughts and actions,

Spiraling, craving support and

Not knowing where to find your feet.

Trying and failing to make sense of things.

One way, and the only way I figured for release

Was to call hellfire and get out of there.

The promised 1900 Great Western service from

Bristol Temple Meads to Lichfield city rumbled in,

Embracing, relieving, the most welcoming

200 tonnes of metal, mechanics and engineering

To come my way.

The train carries you from emotion to emotion,

The rail-line between mind-frames.

A ticket to escape, rejuvenation.

Home.

And sure, being home was fulfilling and comforting.

'The great wanderer returns' to tell of life at university

but what does one say?: "It's so intense, I went mad

and my only hope was to run away?'

No.  You say: "It's great, exciting, magical!

It's like your dreams realized!" And everyone's

happy for you and will bet their hat that

"You can't wait to go back, can you?"

Given, for a while, every thing's perfect

and life is simple, but after moving away,

for me, that town has changed.

It's like an old hobby that you dropped

a few years ago:  Fundamentally enjoyable

and full of nostalgia but kicks are

hard to come by and often not as

thrilling as you'd like.

All the time I was at home, there was this feeling:

A deep knowing that life has changed.

I could feel the big city calling me back

I've come to understand that it's all about balance.

They say home is where the heart is but

not a word against it being in two places at once.

I know that for me, life here in the big city can be

a little overwhelming but now I see that it's

just an issue of adapting and getting the balance right.

I'm ready to make the most of my experience here

and like Tom Gabel said: "We won't stop until we are

the people we decide we should be,

I want to be a shot heard around the world,

fucking unstoppable!"

The 1400 London Midlands service from

Lichfield City to Bristol Temple Meads rumbles

in with understanding and excitement

thundering in it's wheels.

It's good to be back.
